
2018-2023 partnership review with World Bank around 29 projects financed
Burkina Faso and the World Bank strengthen their cooperation. According to the Minister of the Economy, a new partnership framework is currently being finalized.
Before the new framework sees the light of day, the two partners met to take stock of the projects already financed by the institution.Job creation, improved governance and the development of social protection were among the objectives of the partnership framework established between Burkina Faso and the World Bank for the 2018-2023 period. Following its closure, it was time for the two partners to take stock, meeting in Ouagadougou on July 1. The meeting reviewed 29 projects financed by the institution.
From $2.7 to nearly $4 billion. The World Bank’s financial commitments to the State have evolved since 2020. A portfolio described as resilient in the face of the multiple crises shaking the country. In addition to insecurity, the country is also prey to global warming, which threatens the food security of millions of people. In response to the urgency of the situation, the institution launched the RESILAND Sahel program. It provides for the implementation of a Communal Climate Action and Landscape Management project in Burkina Faso.
With the Communal Climate Action and Landscape Management project, investments are planned not only in green job creation but also in reforestation. A glimmer of hope for a country with over 9 million hectares of degraded productive land, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
