Africa: the AfDB revises its growth forecasts downwards
The African Development Bank lowers its growth forecasts for the continent to 3.9% in 2025, i.e. 0.2 points below its previous estimates.
This revision is mainly due to the impact of new US tariffs, which are weighing on African exports.
For 2026, growth is expected to rebound slightly to 4.0%, but remains 0.4 points below initial projections. These adjustments reflect uncertainties linked to global trade tensions and falling international demand.
With capital of $318 billion, the AfDB underscores the urgent need for African economies to diversify their partnerships and strengthen their resilience in the face of these external shocks.
