Cameroon: 16,000 tonnes of coffee by 2024-2025, a 45% increase
Cameroon aims to produce 16,000 tonnes of coffee for the 2024-2025 season, an increase of 44.9% on the 10,953 tonnes harvested in 2023-2024.
This increase is based on the reinforcement of the ‘school fields ’ of the coffee sector recovery project (Parf-Café), which should lead to an increase of 4,642 tonnes of Robusta and 258 tonnes of Arabica.
This revival is crucial after a 24% drop in production in 2023-2024, due to climatic hazards and insecurity in certain producing areas.
Despite this decline, export revenues have risen, reaching CFAF 25.88 billion, thanks to improved quality and higher world prices. Arabica coffee is currently trading at CFAF 5,000/kg and Robusta at CFAF 3,200/kg.
