Cameroon: CFAF 110 billion to clear tax and customs debt of public entities.
Cameroon is continuing with its three-year plan to clear its arrears. In 2025, a budget of CFAF 110 billion will be allocated to settle the tax and customs debts of public entities.
This programme, launched in 2024 with an initial disbursement of CFAF 50 billion, aims to ease the pressure on companies and institutions that are creditors of the State. It concerns in particular commercial, rental, academic and social debts.
According to an audit by the Ministry of Finance, the total outstanding arrears of the State and its branches were estimated at 671.7 billion FCFA, including 215.8 billion FCFA in tax and customs arrears.
According to a hearing by the Ministry of Finance, the total outstanding arrears of the State and its constituent entities were estimated at CFAF 671.7 billion, including CFAF 215.8 billion in tax and customs arrears.
But budgetary tensions persist, and many businesses are still weakened by these late payments. To avoid suffocating the private sector, the government has opted for a gradual settlement, with the burden shared between the State and local authorities.
