Cameroon: Ngoh Ngoh satisfied with progress made in modernising the Autonomous Port of Douala

For several years now, the Autonomous port of  Douala (PAD) has been renovating and modernising its port facilities in order to become the benchmark port in Central Africa, in line with the Cameroon government’s desire to make the Port a benchmark port in Africa.

With this in mind, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic of Cameroon, came to the PAD on Saturday 15 March to see for himself the realities of the existing infrastructure. The purpose of his visit to the port was also to exchange views with port officials on the issues and challenges facing the maritime sector.

The meeting was part of a series of visits aimed at boosting the efficiency and competitiveness of Cameroon’s port facilities.

The port of Douala, which accounts for more than 90% of national port traffic, handles most of Cameroon’s international trade, as well as that of neighbouring countries with no seafront, such as the Central African Republic, and has facilities for handling cargoes such as timber, petroleum products, clinker and various food exports.
