Telecom: Camtel denies being behind deteriorating Orange Cameroon’s communications quality
In a press release, the telecommunications company Camtel denied claims that it was responsible for the deterioration in the quality of electronic communications on the Orange Cameroon network.
In Camtel’s view, ‘the newspaper Cameron Eco – Business carried a press release from the operator Orange Cameroun’ which justifies the persistent deterioration of its network by repeated cuts in the fibre optic transmission links provided by CAMTEL’.
‘CAMTEL is outraged by these statements aimed at discrediting the quality of its transport network. It wishes to point out that Orange Cameroon relies on dark fibre to build its own network, a fibre over which CAMTEL has no visibility. While solutions such as managed capacities automatically offer redundancy in the event of failure or interruption of the optical fibre and constitute a guarantee for the permanent availability of services, it should be noted that Orange Cameroon deliberately refuses to make use of them and insists on remaining on dark fibre. Consequently, CAMTEL cannot be held responsible for the deterioration of a customer’s network as a result of the limitation of the technical solution deployed by the latter,’ states the CAMTEL press release.
