Chinese cars: On the up in South Africa

Faced with increasing price sensitivity, more and more South African consumers are turning to Chinese car brands, which offer better value for money.

According to the National Association of Automobile Dealers of South Africa (NADA), these vehicles will grow by almost 30% between 2023 and 2024, thanks to competitive prices and more standard equipment than traditional brands.

According to Ntsako Mthethwa, journalist for TopGear South Africa, these cars offer cutting-edge features at no extra cost: adaptive cruise control, panoramic sunroof, head-up display and wireless charging.

With a large choice of models (compact, SUV, electric), Chinese brands are gaining ground and even attracting former owners of top-of-the-range cars.
