Royal Air Maroc: a modernized fleet to conquer Africa
Royal Air Maroc is set to sign a landmark agreement with Boeing for the acquisition of around two 787 Dreamliners, according to sources close to the matter. This order is part of an ambitious strategy aimed at strengthening its position as an African hub, in the run-up to the 2030 World Cup which Marorga will co-host.
The Moroccan national airline, which already flies to 30 African destinations, is also planning to order a further 20 A220s from Airbus for its regional routes.
This fleet modernization is in response to sustained growth in air traffic in Africa, where RAM aims to develop its connections, particularly in Central Africa. The group is counting on 26 million annual visitors by 2030, stimulated by the global sporting event and the rise of Moroccan tourism.
Although the exact amounts remain confidential, this double order could involve a total of 50 aircraft. A strategic investment that would position RAM as a key player in continental air transport, at a time when Africa represents the fastest-growing air transport market in the world (+5% per year).
