Cameroon: SCDP invests CFAF 9 billion to increase its LPG storage capacity
Cameroonian Oil Deposit Company (SCDP) is planning to invest CFAF 8.7 billion to increase its liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage capacity.
The aim of the project is to build a new 1,000 metric tonne storage sphere in Douala, bringing the company’s total capacity to 5,970 tonnes, an increase of 20%.
The work, which will take 24 months to complete, will be financed over three years (2025-2027) and includes the automation of existing infrastructure and the construction of a new pipeline. The aim is to reduce supply disruptions and limit logistical tensions, while meeting the country’s fast-growing demand for LPG.
In the long term, SCDP plans to reach a storage capacity of 8,470 tonnes by 2031, to meet an estimated demand of 31,000 tonnes.
