Senegal: SEN Trésor, a platform to simplify payments
Modernizing the administration also means transforming government payment methods. Senegal’s Ministry of Finance and Budget has launched a digital platform called SEN Trésor, designed to facilitate day-to-day public spending. The aim of this reform is to make payments faster, more secure and more accessible.
A single tool for thousands of payments: that’s the promise of SEN Trésor, the new digital platform launched by Senegal’s Treasury Department. Officially presented on Monday June 2 in Dakar, SEN Trésor marks a milestone in the digitization of public payments. The tool targets expenses under 100,000 CFA francs, including student grants, salaries, bonuses and social assistance.
In concrete terms, the platform enables automatic payment via mobile money, without the need to travel, and with full traceability. Gone are the long queues at the counter; payments are now just a click away, secure, supervised and tracked.
Deployed in a pilot phase for the past two months, SEN Trésor has already enabled the payment of over 44,000 beneficiaries, for an amount exceeding 4 billion CFA francs.
Eventually, the platform will integrate other services such as tax payments. This gradual digitization is part of the Senegal 2050 strategy for a more modern administration that is closer to its users.
