Cameroon: The World Bank is ready to finance the reconstruction of crisis areas.
Five years after the launch of the reconstruction plan for the Far North, North West and South West regions, funding is still hard to come by.
On February 7th , the World Bank, which manages a portfolio of CFAF 2,540 billion in Cameroon, expressed its interest in supporting these efforts.
The cost of reconstruction is estimated at Fcfa 1,810 billion for the Far North and Fcfa 154 billion for the North-West and South-West. In 2019, France had announced aid of 62 million euros, but this is still pending. Other donors such as the IDB (22 billion Fcfa), the UNDP and Japan are also contributing to the funding.
The state budget earmarked for this reconstruction has risen from 29.1 billion CFA francs in 2023 to 36.4 billion CFA francs in 2025, but remains insufficient. Support from the World Bank could speed up the project.
