IFC: Burkina deepens exchanges with the World Bank Group

On the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the IMF, taking place in Washington from April 21 to 26, 2025, Burkina Faso’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Dr Aboubakar NACANABO, is holding strategic discussions with officials from these institutions to consolidate financial cooperation and promote Burkina Faso’s economic priorities.

On Tuesday April 22nd, Minister NACANABO met with the World Bank’s Executive Director for Burkina Faso, Harold TAVARES. Discussions focused on a number of key points, including the forthcoming approval of two key projects: the Projet de renforcement de la performance du système éducatif et d’amélioration de la résilience (REPAIR), and the Projet du Bassin d’intégration Sikasso-Korhogo-Bobo-Dioulasso (SKBo).

The Minister also stressed the importance of ensuring greater predictability in the IDA 21 allocation and identifying new financing opportunities. The two officials exchanged views on the reforms to be considered within the framework of the Country Partnership between the World Bank and Burkina Faso.

The Minister also held a working session with the Vice President Africa of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Ethiopis TAFARA. The meeting provided an opportunity to pay tribute to the IFC’s ongoing commitment to the development of Burkina Faso’s private sector, particularly in the fields of infrastructure, energy, finance and trade.
