Uralchem Group Presents AgroSignal at Russia–Africa Forum

Uralchem Group Presents AgroSignal at Russia–Africa Forum

Uralchem Group is taking part in the 3rd Russia–Africa Economic and Humanitarian Forum, held in Moscow on 28–29 October. Through the forum’s business programme and exhibition, the Group is showcasing its capabilities in supplying the agricultural sector with mineral fertilisers and introducing modern agritechnologies.

One of the key focuses of Uralchem’s participation in the forum is the promotion of digital solutions for agriculture. At the exhibition, the Group is demonstrating AgroSignal, a platform for comprehensive online management of crop farming businesses.

The tool automates and tracks the entire field-work chain — from planning through to harvest collection and weighing. AgroSignal enables customers to control all types of farm machinery in real time, drawing on analysis of a wide range of data, including weather conditions, soil parameters, and field size.

AgroSignal’s monitoring and accounting functions can cut costs by up to 50% and boost profits by 25% or more. Thanks to end-to-end online monitoring, the platform can double productivity and raise crop yield by at least 15%. A pilot project with AgroSignal has been running successfully in Uganda since January 2025, where the platform monitors 517 hectares of soybean, maize, and wheat fields.

As part of the forum, the Group is also demonstrating the advantages of applying modern water-soluble fertilisers using autonomous systems, which are particularly effective in hot and dry climates. AgroSignal reads data from sensors installed on farm machinery, substantially expanding work planning and monitoring opportunities.

The African continent is one of the most promising regions for the development of Uralchem’s business. Over the past few years, the Group’s fertiliser shipments to African countries have grown tenfold, to 1 million tonnes. In the longer run, the Group plans to drive this figure to 2 million tonnes.

The potential of the region’s agricultural market is driven in part by rapid population growth: the number of people living on the continent is expected to rise from the current 1.5 billion to 2.5 billion by 2050. However, crop yields in Africa are two to three times below the global average, and agricultural technologies remain underdeveloped. Fertiliser application rates in Africa also remain low at around 22 kg/ha, compared with a global average of 116 kg/ha.

Dmitry Konyaev, Uralchem CEO:

Africa is one of the world’s most promising and fastest-growing agricultural markets. Its further development depends not only on stable supplies of mineral fertilisers, but also on access to modern agricultural technologies. That is why, alongside expanding commercial cooperation, we are ready to share solutions that help farmers manage their operations more efficiently, use resources wisely, and increase yields.
