Economy: ECA forecasts 3.8% growth in Africa by 2025

The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) is forecasting a rebound in African growth to 3.8% in 2025 and 4.1% in 2026.

These projections were unveiled at the 57th session of the Conference of African Ministers of Finance, held in Addis Ababa.

Despite this recovery, growth remains insufficient to meet the continent’s social development needs. The report also highlights a decline in the contribution of trade to growth, despite the increased dynamism of intra-African trade.

In addition, Africa continues to face major challenges, notably extreme poverty and the impacts of climate change, which threaten agricultural yields and food security.
